A former employee shares his thoughts on indeed.com, "You don't want to come to Newell Brands. We are Expendables. They hold back payouts only to waste funds elsewhere. They understand no logic and don't walk their own talk, but you better. Just when u think it can get no worse heres your 20th supervisor they found at Macy's reject arena, Who has no clue what the word production means and do not care."
Former Employee - Executive says"You are treated like dirt. They destroy your motivation and cannot be trusted to do what they say. Office in Aurora IL has very low morale and dictator-style of leadership. HR is especially unethical in their conduct and manners. Aurora personnel are discouraged to help peers from other business units and those who collaborate across boundaries are alienated. People are shown the door and wrong info is communicated to corporate. Business unit CEO says one thing and then stabs you in the back. Leadership team talks in a unprofessional, condemning manner about their employees. HR is always using inappropriate language at work."
Former Employee - National Account Manager says"Turnover rate is extremely high. I went through multiple managers during my time with the organization. Managers promote their friends and not people who deserve to be promoted. It is extremely hard to work for a manger that does not know the basics of your job. The right hand has no clue what the left is doing and it causes stress and unhappiness amongst the teams. Cross functional teams are bickering due to the lack of alignment from leadership."
Former Employee - Director says"Inconsistency in approach to people. Constant swings in direction."
ECommerce Manager says"Leadership with no experience. Everything you’ve learned in your career? Null and void if you come here! Why? Because you will report to a leader with zero experience, and your experience is useless to them. All they do is YES brand leaders to death. Strategy? Let’s throw it to the wall and see what sticks! By Friday, they change their mind. Speaking up/challenging them is frowned upon. HR-biggest joke and everyone knows it. Literally USELESS. Do you enjoy doing PowerPoint presentations? Then come. Because that’s all anyone does, leaving no time for real work."
Former Employee - Intern says"Horrible management, awkward team, inability to confront the internship team with any concerns."
Former Employee - Marketing says"-you will be overworked -too unstable since Jarden merger, still hasn't recovered -bad management -no budget for marketing"
Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says"Absolutely all new management coming in changing a lot. No consideration for associates. HR is not what an HR department should be. They should be more concerned about keeping good employees."
Current Employee - Company Doormat says"No career advancement opportunity. Bonus only for management up."
says"People are great (associate probably up to manager level), the rest? Most got promoted with reorg into their roles too quickly and are lacking leadership and people skills. Hoboken ecomm office is grind grind grind. People leave and are not replaced, workload gets dumped on next person and expectations for 1 person are now to fulfill for 3. Terrible!!! Only hope is the new CEO, but by the time he realizes what is going on in smaller teams, more people will leave. Do yourself a favor, look elsewhere. Culture? There is no culture, very “clicky” environment, very high school!!!"
Current Employee - Team Leader says"Unfair management. Friends of management are the only ones that are given any career advancement opportunities. They don't care how long you have worked for them. Loyalty means nothing here. You have to be in the "click" with management to be given any opportunities. Management is unable to perform the jobs of their employees. They have no clue. Supervisors spend half of their day on the internet for personal use instead of engaging with employees and setting a good example. They have no work ethic what so ever. Upper management has extremely poor attendance setting a very poor example for everyone."
Production Team Leader (Former Employee) says"Horrible management, absolutely no advancing opportunities, sweatshop style environment. Little to no breaks, no conflict resolution or company policy procedures or any kind of training best practices whatsoever! Wouldn't recommend to anyone ever! Probably getting shipped to Mexico anyway. DONT EVEN TRY IT YOU WILL HATE YOUR LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS SWEAT SHOP! Cons: Everything"
Production Worker (Former Employee) says"The management (specifically one person) is terrible. They don’t appreciate any of their workers. There are people who come in 7 days a week for months straight doing more than double the amount of work and the only thing they get in return is complaints and write ups. The hr team causes problems with many workers including temps and cleaners who don’t even work under that company. Would not recommend working here at all unless you want uncommunicative rude bosses who will cause nothing but drama and make it hard to even want to come to work. The actual workers are pretty nice people but the HR department ruins the environment. Cons: Management/HR"
Forklift Operator (Former Employee) says"I applied thinking I was going into a full time position, as it states on its site for a material handler/forklift driver. It’s a contract temporary job not a full time employment job. This was very misleading. I was wondering why I was hired on the spot (no interview) they don’t know anything about me more or less, an now I know why. The pay at $15.50 an hr with full time work that’s attractive, but you literally get no benefits at all as it’s a contract only job, an your not guaranteed to work all the time, an they have times where they lay off.. if your someone just wanting a job for extra cash for school, sure this could be for you, but if you want a career this wouldn’t be for you less you want 0 benefits like health care and retirement and dont mind paying the penalty for not having healthcare or paying for it solo monthly (both are expensive I might add) an good luck retiring without a 401k when the money you have saved is going towards your medical bills when your older. Just facts of life unfortunately Cons: No benefits at all, no job security"
Machine Operator (Former Employee) says"If you want to work six days a week and twelve hour days and want poor management and no life then this is the job for you . I would not recommend this job to anyone . I wasted four years of my life at this job . Cons: Short breaks. Management. Hot work environment. Fast paced work . Heavy lifting ."
Forklift Operator (Former Employee) says"2 months with this company and nothing but harassment by a couple of employees. Management did absolutely nothing. This obviously empowered the employees. Don't waist your time if you are white. You will be met with continuous harassment, bullying, and intimidation. Including being called a honky, racist, bigot. No assistance from management. Cons: Racism, Harassment"
Production Worker (Current Employee) says"You don't want to come here. We are Expendables. They hold back payouts only to waste funds elsewhere. They understand no logic and dont walk their own talk, but you better. Just when u think it can get no worse heres your 20th supervisor they found at maceys reject arena, Who has no clue what the word production means and do not care"
Forklift Operator (Current Employee) says"workers risk their health and life working 12 hours a day during the current epidemic and the assistant warehouse raising all kinds of cane because they have to fill up alcohol bottles to sanitize equipment , very classless."
Packer (Former Employee) says"This would have been a good job. Until assembly supervisor flipped out when asked for her help. And she couldnt fuc machine either. I had to quit bc I wasn't allowing her to cuss at me like that bc I asked for help Cons: Assembly supervisor. Needs reported to HR"
Rotomold Operator (Current Employee) says"Dose not eork good eith employess and lets harshment without fixn the problem they kept doing it too me and i rrported to the manager and teported 3 _ 4 times"
Driver/Operator (Former Employee) says"Laid off without notice. Said too many workers at the time. Then a couple weeks later was hiring 20 plus people again. No phone call back. I showed up to work on time and nothing."
Rotational Mold Operator (Current Employee) says"Was looking for a stable place I could grow and get more experience and it just hasn't been the case. I want to feel like the employer is sympathetic to employee issues and questions. Cons: Not a place to grow"
Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) says"It was such a terrible place to work worst manager she was such a terrible person moral was low I was so happy when they shut it down that manager ran that place into the ground . Cons: Everything"
Logistics Supervisor (Former Employee) says"This company had a horrible culture and did not promote from within, period. Yearly we would be subject to cuts and belt tightening, only to hear about the gross margin records being set at the end of the year. Cons: You will not be recognized or compensated for any of it"
Operator (Former Employee) says"When you get interviewed they promise you bucu over time, profit sharing benefits, ect. I know someone that has been with this company for 6 months. They are lucky to get 40 hours a week, no profit sharing bonus, no Christmas bonus, NOTHING that they were promised. This company is a joke. Then to top it off employees were informed yesterday that things will only be getting worse so they can waist money on things that are not needed or pointless! How can a company screw their employees (the back bone of every company) and expect a good response. In my opinion never, never NEVER stoop low enough to need this job. Cons: Everything!"
Jefe de Producto y Trade Marketing (Current Employee) says"Se trabaja con mucho stress debido al maltrato y malos modos de la Dirección Local. Cons: El salario no tiene los ajustes por inflación que el pais requiere"
Sales (Former Employee) says"Grab any free samples you can and run. Don't hang people out to dry when they go to bat for you with the local customer that impacts other areas of the business and bonuses Cons: terrible culture at corporate and local team level"
Machine Operator (Former Employee) says"very stressful place to work.they was very bad to the workers and threated poelpe bad .work their people everyday no break .it does pay good but is not worth it. Cons: everything else"
Employee (Former Employee) says"My experience was anything but positive. Management is highly inexperienced, completely inept, passive aggressive/manipulative/bullying. I do not recommend this this company to anyone, most specifically in tech design (not even to grads/entry level people who want or need to gain experience). At least, not until Sr management gets their heads out of the rear ends and replaces TD mangement with individuals who possess LEGITIMATE TD skills with a minimum of 10+ years of experience AND has people-managing experience. Pay is extremely low, especially when compared to other apparel companies with similar TD/apparel development roles that are also located within the SF Bay Area. Any time spent here is not worth it. Cons: Archaic systems/processes, no training, incompetent tech design management"
Quarterback (Former Employee) says"They work you like a dog for the busy season then let you go. If you don't kiss butt and get in with the in crowd you will not advance at all. They keep the amazing people who deserve to be promoted stuck on their machines and let the people who can't make numbers and slack off be promoted to higher positions they are undeserving of. Don't get your hopes up working here. It's a sinking ship."
Shipping Clerk (Former Employee) says"Not a good place to work, Supervisor want treat you right. Hot place to work, good lunch rooms. Not enough pay for the job that you do, Can't decide if you going to work 50 or 40 hours a week. Cons: Supervisior want treat you right."
